USRowing is pleased to announce that Ellen Minzner is taking on her role as Director of Para High Performance on a full-time basis.
She leaves her position at Community Rowing, Inc. as their Director of Inclusion and Advocacy after more than 10 years, where she and her team of coaches and staff pioneered a model for serving people with disabilities, military veterans, and underserved youth that has become a national standard.
Minzner will continue to oversee USRowing's para high performance program, which she took over on a part-time basis in April of 2019. Her focus will be both on the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games scheduled for later this year and the long-term success of the program including athlete identification and development as USRowing looks towards 2024 and beyond.
"I am thrilled to be in a position to focus my attention on building a program of sustained excellence for U.S. para rowing across all disciplines," Minzner said. "I look forward to working with all the coaches, athletes, and the high performance staff at USRowing to make that happen, from Tokyo through LA 2028."
Before being named USRowing Para High Performance Director, Minzner served as the coach of the PR3 mixed four with coxswain for several years, consistently reaching the medal podium including winning a silver medal at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio.
"We are really fortunate to be able to get Ellen on board full time to continue to build the para programs," said USRowing High Performance Director Matt Imes. "As FISA has included events at the world championships, our para programming will benefit greatly from having dedicated personnel and resources working year-round to lead and support the programs."
