(ATR) Global sales for McDonald’s in the month of August decreased by 3.7 percent.

The Olympic TOP sponsor recorded decreases in every global region.

"During August, McDonald's global business faced several headwinds that impacted sales performance," McDonald’s president and CEO Don Thompson said in a statement.

In the United States, McDonald’s saw a 2.7 percent decrease in sales, mostly due to sluggish industry growth.

According to the corporation, a strong month in the United Kingdom was overshadowed by poor sales in Russia and the rest of Europe. McDonald’s reported a 0.8 percent decrease in sales in the region.

The Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa regions were hit the hardest, recording a 14.5 percent decrease in sales for August. A supplier issue from China caused sales to plummet.

"For the long term, we remain focused on strengthening the key foundational elements of our service, operations and marketing to maximize the impact of our strategic growth priorities for our customers and our business."

Baku 2015 Receives Web Upgrade

Web developer Sitecore will relaunch the Baku 2015 website.

The site, which launched on August 21, will receive support and upgrades from Sitecore as preparations for the European Games continue.

The website will be available on digital and mobile platforms and will integrate social media and commentary ahead of the games.

"It is important for the inaugural European Games to have a strong online presence and an innovative website with original, high-quality content," Baku 2015 CEO Simon Clegg said in a statement.

"Sitecore are internationally renowned for their ability to create and manage websites of the highest standard and to have their support is a huge boost to the web team here at the European Games."

Sitecore is the fourth official sponsor for the 2015 European Games in addition to McDonald’s, Tickethour and Milla.

Wrestling Ink Commercial Partner

Taishan will provide United World Wrestling with mats through 2020.

The partnership was announced Friday at a ceremony in Tashkent, Uzbekistan during the 2014 World Wrestling Championships.

"Taishan came to me after wrestling was temporarily voted off the Olympic Program," UWW president Nenad Lalovic said in a statement.

"They told me that, no matter what happened, they wanted to be our partner and contribute to the sport of wrestling. That decision showed their commitment to the sport of wrestling worldwide."

Taishan will provide mats for all UWW competitions, as well as work with the federation to provide mats for developing countries to foster wrestling programs.

"With Taishan helping us build necessary infrastructure in countries that need resources to develop. This is another step in changing our sport for the better."
