Madkour Named Sports Business Journal's New Publisher

Abe Madkour was named publisher of Sports Business Journal and Sports Business Daily.

"Abe is a highly respected voice in the sports business community and a trusted and valued colleague," said SBJ founder and chairman Whitney Shaw. "This promotion gives him responsibility not just for the content and product sides of Sports Business Journal and Sports Business Daily but also the audience, sales and marketing sides. Throughout his career, Abe has earned every accolade and recognition he’s received, including this promotion."

He will continue as executive editor of the Journal and Daily, and SBJ’s conference group will report to him as well.

Abe joined Sports Business Daily when it launched in August 1994 and became editor-in-chief two years later. He was named executive editor of the Journal and Daily in 2003.

Earlier in his career, Abe was a legislative aide for U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont and also worked for the Washington Bullets and Baltimore Orioles.

Abe is a graduate of the University of Vermont.
