Krakow Hires EKS

The Polish bid for the 2022 Winter Games will have the guidance of an experienced hand.

Krakow has tabbed Event Knowledge Services, the firm behind the successful Turin and Vancouver bids, to work on its behalf.

EKS, led by Craig McLatchley, last handled Istanbul’s unsuccessful bid to host the 2020 Summer Games.

Other applicants for 2022 include Oslo, Stockholm, Lviv, Almaty, and Beijing.

Applicant files must be submitted by March to the IOC, which will have the option of culling the list before naming those who have achieved candidacy in July.

Triathlon Body Moving to Lausanne

When the International Triathlon Union’s Lausanne office opens for 2014 business on Tuesday, it will do so for the first time as the body’s headquarters.

The ITU was previously based in Vancouver.

"Vancouver has played an important role in the history, with ITU having maintained its headquarters there since its inception nearly 25 years ago," said ITU president and IOC member Marisol Casado.

Casado said that with the IOC and a "vast majority" of federations located in the Swiss city, the move is best for the future of triathlon.

Vancouver has been home to the ITU since its formation in 1989. An office opened in Madrid after Casado’s election, and the Lausanne office opened in 2012.

The ITU will maintain offices in Vancouver and Madrid, and there are no plans for the relocation of staff.
