Following the massive social media success of the London 2012 Olympic Games – the first Socialympics – and the recent FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the horse world will also be getting social during the planet's most prestigious equestrian event – the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy.

The FEI will be hugely active on social media during the Games (23 August-7 September) in France. Not only will we be connecting with close to 1,000 riders, drivers, and vaulters from 74 nations and 500,000 on-site spectators, but millions of equestrian fans around the world.

The latest news, exclusive images and unforgettable videos can be accessed in real time from smartphones and tablets, no matter where you are. All the best moments will be available online ready to be shared with friends and equestrian fans on the FEI’s official accounts on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

And to get everyone in the mood for socialising, the FEI is also launching four exciting new features in time for the Games. Check them out and get ready to get social!

FEI SportApp

You’ll be the first to know what’s happening in equestrian sport with the new version of the FEI SportApp. No matter where you are, keep track of all the scores at FEI events, check the current ranking lists, get to know your favourite athletes and horses better, and access the entire FEI calendar and event schedules.

And if you’re an athlete, you have an exclusive and restricted area so that you can check the status of all your upcoming entries, and you can invite your grooms, trainers, owners and relatives to follow as well so they have access to all the information they need to plan events.

The official FEI SportApp is a must-have for equestrian athletes and fans, available from the Apple Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, and Google Play for Android.

Horsify Me App

The brand new FEI Horsify Me App, launched especially for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy, is brought to you by the FEI as a fun take on the idea that our horses are part of us. Take a photo of yourself, choose a horse face and "horsify" yourself! There are 10 different horse faces to choose from so you can switch from selfies to horsies again and again.

The Horsify Me App is available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and can be downloaded from the Apple Store.

The Horse Quiz by FEI

Test your Equestrian knowledge by answering just three questions on the Horse Quiz by FEI for a chance to win a host of prizes, including VIP tickets to the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping Final in Barcelona (ESP) in October, and to Las Vegas (USA) for next year’s Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping and Reem Acra FEI World Cup™ Dressage!

The Horse Quiz by FEI is available online from August 23, the day of the Games Opening Ceremony!

Athlete biographies

The FEI athlete biographies have been totally revamped and now offer riders the chance to become writers on the new biographies platform, allowing athletes to add their own stories. Athletes and National Federations can constantly update their athlete biographies, adding new facts and achievements, and links to their social media channels, all alongside the most comprehensive results database available.

The FEI athlete biographies are a vital tool for media following our sport, but the revamped platform also means that fans can feel closer than ever to their equine and human heroes!
