SportAccord Convention

Hugh Robertson, the United Kingdom’s sports minister, is the latest speaker for the SportAccord Convention in St. Petersburg.

No date was given for his presentation, but the event is scheduled for May 26-31. His speech will focus on a "top-level perspective on the national impact of an Olympic Games."

Also this week, SportAccord announced it entered a partnership with global communications company Burson-Marsteller.

The firm is SportAccord’s new communications advisor and will become the recommended service provider for SportAccord’s 107 member organizations.

"As our mission has grown, it has become clear that it was time to engage a global firm to ensure that our work on behalf of our members is properly communicated," Vincent Gaillard, Director General of SportAccord, said in announcing the partnership.

The schedule for the SportAccord Convention’s Sports Demo Zone was also released.

Eighteen federations and other sport bodies are scheduled to present.

"There is a terrific buzz about sport and the business of sport in Russia and delegates are really going to feel that excitement when they’re networking at our event," SportAccord Convention tells Around the Rings.
