Many of the Canadian athletes who shone at last month’s Pan Am Games will compete in Beijing against more of the world’s top athletic talent in a potential preview of next summer’s Olympic Games. Sprinter Andre De Grasse, decathlete Damian Warner, heptathlete Brianne Theisen-Eaton, high jumper Derek Drouin, pole vaulter Shawnacy Barber, and heptathlete and sprinter Jessica Zelinka are just some of the Canadians looking to add 2015 World Champion to their resumes. De Grasse specifically is scheduled to compete in the men’s 100m and the 4x100m relay, setting up potential gold-medal finals against world class competition including Jamaica’s Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell, and the USA’s Justin Gatlin and Tyson Gay.

In addition to live streaming coverage, cbcsports.ca will feature an IAAF-specific page with results, medal table, schedules, records, and historical information from past World Championships. Also, CBC’s Anson Henry (@ansonhenry), a Pan Am Games and Commonwealth Games medallist, Olympian and World Championship sprinter, will file a daily digital report at cbcsports.ca called The Starting Block, providing the latest news and notes from the World Championships.
