(ATR) Around the Rings is told that the International Boxing Association executives seeking to oust AIBA president CK Wu are holding an Extraordinary Executive Committee meeting in Lausanne on Sept. 29.

On Sept. 25, a Swiss magistrate ruled that the Interim Management Committee formed by these same executives to run the daily operations of the federation was not allowed under AIBA’s statutes.

The IMC had been formed following an EC meeting in Moscow on July 25 where discussions became heated between Wu and the executives who seek to remove him from the presidency.

An Extraordinary Congress has been tentatively scheduled for Nov. 12 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates where a motion of no confidence is expected to be held against Wu.

However, ATR is told the date of this Extraordinary Congress could be changed at the upcoming Executive Committee meeting on Friday.

In the meantime, the 13 AIBA executives who are against Wu have begun meeting with National Federations to relay their point of view on the alleged financial mismanagement of the federation by Wu. A meeting was held with the NFs of Europe on Sept. 25 in Bulgaria where the finances of the federation were discussed.

World Rowing Championships Enjoy Unprecedented Live Coverage

The entirety of this week’s 2017 World Rowing Championships in Sarasota, Florida is being video streamed thanks to unprecedented cooperation between US Rowing, World Rowing, NBC and the Olympic Channel.

The live stream was supposed to begin with the semifinals and finals on Sept. 28 and run through the end of the event on Oct.1 but a limited production live stream, using six cameras instead of 18, was added for the first four days of the championships.

All live streaming and Video On Demand video clips of each race are available at www.worldrowing.com. U.S. audiences can also watch on the Olympic Channel at www.olympicchannel.com. The Olympic Channel will live stream in most countries, subject to geo-blocking restrictions.

Following the championships, World Rowing will be holding its 2017 Ordinary Congress in Sarasota on Oct. 2.

Artistic Gymnastics World Championships Return to Montreal

The 2017 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships begin on Oct. 2 in Montreal.

It marks the first time in 32 years that the event will be held in the 1976 Summer Olympics host city.

More than 450 gymnasts from 72 countries will compete at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium.

Only individual competition will be on the program because this is a post-Olympic year.

Seven men’s titles and five women’s titles will be up for grabs, with a maximum of six men and four women per country participating in the qualifying rounds.

Three gymnasts per country may compete on any given apparatus, but no more than two per country can qualify for the All-around and apparatus finals.

The championships run through Oct. 8.
