The dates for the 2022 swimming World Championships (25m) were just announced by the Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA). It will be held December 17-22 in Kazan, Russia according to a press release from FINA.

Kazan also played host to the 16th FINA World Championships in 2015 as well as the FINA Swimming World Cup earlier this year.

Over 1,200 athletes from more than 180 countries are expected to compete.

“We are absolutely delighted to be returning to Kazan,” said FINA president Husain Al-Musallam. “The facilities are world class and provide the ultimate environment for the athletes to perform at their highest levels.”

Russia is banned from hosting international sporting events for two years due to a ruling regarding doping. That ban will end on December 16, 2022, one day before the start of the world championships.
