The 7th Edition 2015 of The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award

The Board of Trustees of the "Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award" are launching the 7th Edition 2015 of the prestigious Award in the field of sports worldwide, as regards the value of the awards and also the diversity of its categories. It is the first of its kind dedicated to creativity in all fields of sports.

This was announced during a big press conference held today (Tuesday 31st of March, 2015) at the Dubai Press Club, where His Excellency Khalid Ali Bin Zayed, the Secretary General of "Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award" announced the launching of the 7th Edition of the Award. Also, His Excellency Dr. Khalifa Al Shaali, Board member and President of the Award's Technical Committee took part in the press conference, and as well His Excellency Nasser Aman Al Rahma, the Director of the Award.

The press conference was also attended by His Excellency Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council, together with the Board members of the Award and the members of the committees working on it, as well as the representatives of local and international media and sports organizations.

His Excellency Khalid Ali Bin Zayed, stated that the award reflects the thoughts and philosophy of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler Dubai, who believes in creativity as a mental capacity through which innovators can challenge obstacles, solve problems and formulate ideas in an unprecedented ways, as he says "If you face a challenge that requires finding a solution or making a decision,you will have two options, either to take the ideas of your predecessors and follow them, or to initiate your creative abilities and mental capacities in order to develop a new idea and framework. The support and directions of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, and Patron of the Award, and under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Award, and President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, made the Award realize a number of remarkable achievements during its 1st till the 6th Editions.

His Excellency Secretary General of the Award explained the vision of the award, its message and goals. He also presented the result in numbers for what the award has achieved over the past six years, including 835 individuals and organizations applying to compete in the categories of the award in the 6th Edition, among which 618 were judged. He also stated in details the rate of submitting applications by Arab countries and the number of symposiums and conferences that the Award held in the UAE, and a number of Arab Countries to establish the principle of creativity in work.

His Excellency Khalid Ali Bin Zayed also stated that 121 winners were honored during the period of the Award. 55 individuals from Emirates either won awards or were honored, while the number from the Arab World is 57 and the number on the international level is 9.

In conclusion, His Excellency the General Secretary of the Award, on behalf of the board, extended the invitation to the sports sector in the UAE, the Arab World and International Federations under ASOIF to apply in the categories of the 7th Edition in order to win, as per the rules and regulations. He asserted that the Award's team will organize a number of visits and preliminary meetings to explain the basis of competition, its regulations and techniques of nomination.

Basis of Competition

His Excellency Dr. Khalifa Al Shaali, Board member and President of the Award's Technical Committee, announced the competition categories in the 7th Edition, which are: Individual Creative Sports Award, Team Creative Sports Award and Corporate Creative Sports Award. These are the same categories incorporated over the last 6th Editions of the Award, since they comprise all elements of athletic achievement and were carefully selected. Also, it was decided that the international participation in the Award will be confined to the Corporate Creative Sports Award category only for the fourth year in a row, and for the International Federations for the third year in a row.

His Excellency Dr. Al Shaali set the basics for competing for the Award as follows: Athletic achievement, applied intellectual creativity in sports, creative initiatives based on planning, asserting that the goal of setting the basics of competition is to push the participants to come up with initiatives that contribute to developing the sport movement in the world.

The President of the Award's Technical Committee confirmed that there is an increasingly growing interest in the participation of the International Federations, the last of which was won by International Hockey Federation for the best initiative adopted to spread the game and facilitate playing it for everyone. He also revealed the period for the preparatory event for qualifying for the competition locally, in the Arab World and International, which is between 1st September, 2014 till 31st August, 2015. Also, the dates for applying to participate and compete for winning the awards of the 7th Edition.

International Appraisal

Mr. Nasser Al Rahma, Director of the Award went through the phases of development of the Award, which is considered one of the most important initiatives of Dubai Sports Council, as well as the appraisal it received for its role in developing the sports sector Locally, in the Arab world and Internationally, as it received the award of the International Olympic Committee as the best initiative "in appreciation of the big role it plays" and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award for "supporting and developing the sports movement". Also, the Algerian Olympic Committee presented the Olympic Merit to His Highness Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of UAE, for the great efforts he exerts in participating and developing sports in the Arab World, including Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Creative Sports Award. This merit is presented to those individuals who made unusual achievements to enhance and develop sports".

His Excellency Al Rahma asserted that the award is related to cooperation with international sports organizations, the most important of which is the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations "ASOIF", international sports media organizations, continental councils, The Arab League, Arab sport unions or organizations and also Arab and international academic organizations which are keen to enhance joint efforts in the field of developing sports.

Categories of the Award:

a) Individual Creative Sports Award: This award is granted to individual players, coaches, referees and administrators who achieve sportive innovations on the Local, Arab and International Level.

b) Team Creative Sports Award: This award is granted to sport teams that achieved having accomplished sportive innovations on the Local, Arab and International Level.

c) Corporate Creativity Award: This award is bestowed upon sports entities having achieved sportive innovations on the Local, Arab and International Level.

Levels of the Award:

a) First Level: The competition takes place in the UAE, between creative achievements on the Local, Regional, Arab, Continental, International or Olympic Level.

b) Second Level: The competition takes place from all Arab countries that includes creative achievements accomplished on the Arab, Continental, International or Olympic Level.

c) Third Level: The competition is exclusively to the achievements of International Sports Federations under the umbrella of Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) for this year’s entry – "Best Initiatives for Project or Program".

Qualifications for Participation:

• Athletic achievements as well as individual and team athletic intellectual creativity achieved between 1st September, 2014 till 31st August, 2015.

• Applications can be received directly from the concerned parties or from

the parties nominating them.

• Applications can be submitted via our website www.mbrawards.ae

Timetable of the 7th Edition 2015:

- Starting date to receiving the applications 1st April 2015

- Deadline for receiving applications 31st August 2015

- Arbitration and selecting the winners September & October 2015

- Announcing the winners for all categories 24th November 2015

- Awarding Ceremony 14th January 2016
