Rams 54-51 Win Over Chiefs in Monday Night Thriller Voted No. 1 Sports Moment of 2018

Guardar

— The Los Angeles Rams

thrilling 54-51 win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night

Football was named the No. 1 sports moment of 2018 during the 14th

annual LA Sports Awards, held tonight at The Beverly Hilton.

A game that was unexpectedly moved to the Coliseum due to poor

field conditions at the planned Mexico City venue turned into an

emotional civic rallying point and a historic match-up between the

Rams and the Chiefs, both 9-1.

The teams saluted first responders and victims of the recent

Borderline shooting in Thousand Oaks and the devastating Woolsey

Fire with special caps and ceremonies, and then the two teams

became the first to both score more than 50 points in an NFL game.

Played on November 19, Rams quarterback Jared Goff passed for 413

yards and four touchdowns and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes

threw for six touchdowns, but also three interceptions, which proved

decisive for the Rams.

In other award presentations, Philip Rivers of the Chargers and

Aaron Donald of the Rams were honored as 2018 Co-Sportsman of

the Year and Olympic snowboarding gold medalist Chloe Kim was

selected Sportswoman of the Year. Chargers head coach Anthony

Lynn was the Coach of the Year award recipient and LAFC President

Tom Penn was named the top Sports Executive.

The LA Sports Awards are produced annually by the Los Angeles

Sports Council to celebrate the year in sports in the Los

Angeles/Orange County area and to recognize the outstanding

achievements of the athletes and coaches we all cheer for.
