(ATR) Athletes, officials and spectators arrive in Incheon, South Korea for the 17th edition of the Asian Games.

The opening ceremony for the games takes place on Friday at Incheon's main stadium.

This is the largest sporting event staged in Asia, hosted by the Olympic Council of Asia, with a program set to feature over 430 events across 36 disciplines.Hockey events will serve as qualifiers for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

The first round of men's football kicked off on Sept. 14. Competition for all sports featured on the program for the 2014 Asian Games ends Oct. 4.
