(ATR) Italian-born Lucia Montanarella has exported her media expertise to Vancouver and now Rio de Janeiro.
Montanarella ran the Olympic News Service at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. After 2006 she became chief of press operations for the Vancouver Games, overseeing a staff of 600.
Now she’s on the job in Rio de Janeiro, directing press operations for the 2016 Olympics, becoming the first foreigner to hold that post in both Summer and Winter Games.
After graduating from university, Montanarella covered the Albertville, Barcelona and Atlanta Olympics as a radio and newspaper reporter.
