The Committee for the Preservation of Olympic Wrestling (CPOW) in conjunction with USA Wrestling and FILA will debut a series of weekly Google+ On Air Hangouts this Thursday, July 11th at 5pmET with 2012 Olympian Jake Herbert. Jake will be the first of several current and former Olympians as well as global wrestling leaders who will educate and answer questions from fans about the Keep Olympic Wrestling movement, leading up to the International Olympic Committee’s final vote in September.
Herbert’s Google+ On Air Hangout will be the first of a series of weekly hangouts with some of the biggest names in global wrestling and the Keep Olympic Wrestling movement. Individuals participating in the series include Olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs, FILA President Nenad Lalovic, FILA representative and Olympic gold medalist Daniel Igali, Executive Director of USA Wrestling Rich Bender, CPOW chairman Bill Scherr, celebrities such as Billy Baldwin, and more.
The Google+ On Air Hangout is an innovative platform that allows multiple people to hold a "face-to-face" discussion from multiple locations at the same time via webcams. Fans can watch the Hangout on the Keep Olympic Wrestling Google+ Page, YouTube Channel or see it streamed live at TheMat.com. For this week’s Hangout with Herbert, fans who have a question for Jake can submit questions via Twitter by tweeting with the hashtag #HerbertHangout.
The hangouts will be a forum for supporters, fans and media to learn about the latest happenings in the wrestling community and what is being done to save the sport in advance of the IOC’s final vote in September in Buenos Aires.
