21 September 2019: The International Teqball Federation (FITEQ) today announced the launch of the
Austrian Teqball Federation, as the European nation becomes the latest country to embrace the
rapidly growing global sport.
The Federation will be headquartered in Vienna and led by President Alexandra Koncar. As a sport
which develops technical skill, concentration and stamina, and can be practised anywhere, teqball has
grown rapidly in recent years as more and more people have been attracted to the sport.
The launch of the Austrian Teqball Federation was held during the 19th edition of Austria’s largest
open-air sports event – ‘Austrian Day of Sports’ – which attracted more than 300,000 spectators for a
celebration of Austrian sport. Austrian Teqball Federation President Alexandra Koncar led the
presentation of the new Federation, which was followed by a teqball demonstration. Members of the
public were then invited to try the sport for themselves. Over 120 sports organisations including the
Austrian Sports Organisation (BSO) and Austrian Olympic Committee (ӦOC), were represented at the
day-long event, with more than 400 elite athletes, including Olympic Champions Marcel Hirscher and
Anna Gasser also in attendance.
President of the Austrian Teqball Federation Alexandra Koncar said:
"We are delighted to launch the Austrian Teqball Federation and begin an exciting journey for teqball
here in Austria. It is fitting that we launched on the Austrian Day of Sports; some of Austria’s most
famous sportsmen and sportswomen have been in attendance today and we hope that at future
editions of this event it will be Austrian teqball World Champions who will be the ones entertaining
fans."
György Gattyán, Vice-President of the International Teqball Federation, added:
"Establishing National Federations is critical to ensuring we develop the sport properly at a national
level and fulfil its huge potential. We have no doubt that the Austrian Teqball Federation will do just
that and tap into teqball’s huge appeal in Austria."

ABOUT TEQBALL
Teqball is a new football-based sport, designed in Hungary, that is ideal for professional footballers
and amateur players alike to develop their technical skills, concentration and stamina. Teqball is the
brainchild of former professional footballer Gábor Borsányi. His idea was brought to life by fellow cofounders Viktor Huszár, a computer scientist who designed the iconic curved table the game is played

ABOUT FITEQ
As well as being a fun game and football training aid, practised by some of the biggest players and
teams in world football, Teqball is a sport in its own right, governed by the Fédération Internationale
de Teqball (FITEQ), which was founded in 2017. Based in Lausanne, Switzerland, FITEQ’s primary
mission is to introduce and develop the sport globally, establish national federations and unite the
international Teqball community. FITEQ organised the sport’s first World Cup in Hungary in 2017 and
staged the second edition in Reims, France, in October 2018. Co-founders, Gábor Borsányi, György
