(ATR) The Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC) and Toyota are joining forces to provide support for the development of Jordanian sport and its athletes.
JOC Secretary General Nasser Majali, and Nadim Haddad, who is the General Manager of Markazia Toyota, put pen to paper on a two-year partnership at a signing ceremony recently at the dealership in Amman.
Markazia was established in 1999 as the Toyota distributor in Jordan and its operations include Automobile Sales, Service and Parts.
The partnership includes the launch of an athlete support program in line with Toyota’s new campaign "Start Your Impossible". The program will support athletes working towards their goal of winning medals at the highest level of international sport.
"Toyota’s support will be integral for Jordan’s athletes in the build up to Tokyo 2020, where we are expecting to take our biggest-ever team to an Olympic Games," Majali tells Around the Rings.
"As the JOC’s gold partner, Toyota will play a key role in providing our athletes with the best possible platform to succeed, offering both financial and logistical support. Everyone associated with the JOC is grateful of Toyota’s help in developing Jordanian sport, and we are excited to be a part of their wider Olympic journey."
Toyota, which is also part of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Olympic Partner Program, will be the golden sponsor for the JOC for the next two years.
"It is an honor to be working with the JOC at an exciting time for sport, especially with the next Olympic Games just around the corner," Haddad said.
Toyota has also signed sponsorship agreements with a number of athletes from Jordan’s Olympic Preparation Centre in recent months. The company is providing cars for some athletes and financial support for others in the build up to Tokyo 2020.
USA Baseball Embraces Technology
USA Baseball announced this week that Diamond Kinetics has signed on as an Official Player Development Partner in a multi-year deal.
The technology company, based in Pittsburgh, will provide its SwingTracker bat sensor and PitchTracker smart baseball technologies to USA Baseball’s six national teams and three national team development programs, among others.
"We are very pleased and excited to partner with Diamond Kinetics to usher in state-of-the-art tools, technology and collaborative content to USA Baseball," said Paul Seiler, USA Baseball’s Executive Director and CEO, in a statement.
"It is critical in this new era of baseball evaluation, training and development to have quantifiable, objective information accessible at a moment’s notice and Diamond Kinetics will allow USA Baseball to utilize this essential data in its efforts to further develop its athletes."
All USA Baseball national team and national team development program members will have access to the technology beginning in 2019. In addition, both organizations will jointly collaborate on custom software tools to further enhance the technology and its impact on total athlete development.
