Team Bridgestone Roster Finalized - Sponsor Spotlight

(ATR) Six Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls will receive assistance from Bridgestone during their final pushes to qualify for the Rio 2016 Games.

Meb Keflezighi, marathon, Cullen Jones, swimming, Aly Raisman, gymnastics, Kelley O’Hara, soccer, Khatuna Lorig, archery, and Will Groulx, para-cycling, will be part of "Team Bridgestone," for 2016. In addition to receiving sponsorship funds from the company they will participate in activation programs for the Japanese tire company.

Bridgestone joined the IOC TOP Sponsorship program in 2014, signing an agreement that lasts through the 2024 Summer Olympics.

"These seven individuals align closely with our company’s values and inspire us with their own passion for performance, their dedication to hard work, and a commitment to the communities in which they live, work and train," Gary Garfield, chief executive and president of Bridgestone Americas, said in a statement.

"Athletes are the driving force of the Olympic Games and represent the heart of the Olympic Movement."

Iconic Coke Cans Altered

Coca-Cola cans will be getting a streamlined, updated look.

Going forward, all Coca-Cola cans will feature the iconic red look, with the different varieties outlined in their respective can’s colors. The rebrand is part of Coca-Cola’s "Taste the Feeling" campaign that began in January 2016.

"The Coca-Cola Red Disc has become a signature element of the brand, synonymous with great taste, uplift and refreshment," Marcos de Quinto, chief marketing officer at Coca-Cola, said in a statement. "By applying it to our packaging in such a bold way, we are taking the next step towards full adoption of the "One Brand" strategy, uniting the Coca-Cola family under one visual identity."

Coca-Cola hopes that the brand unification helps boost sales for their diet soda varieties. Mexico will be the first market to receive the updated cans in May, with all worldwide markets receiving it by 2017.

Olympic Donation to Japan Earthquake

Bridgestone will donate $174,000 to earthquake relief efforts in Japan.

On April 14, a series of earthquakes struck the Kumamoto region in Southeast Japan. Nearly 50 people perished from the quakes, with over 3,000 being injured.

Half of the money will go to the Japanese Red Cross society, while the other half will go to the Kumamoto prefecture government. Bridgestone is headquartered in Tokyo.
