Soccerex have announced a new multi-year partnership with the Sport Integrity Global Alliance (SIGA) that will see the Alliance committing their institutional support to Soccerex, starting with the upcoming event Soccerex USA 2018, 15-16 November, Miami.
Growing from an informal coalition of 20 organisations in November 2015, SIGA has since become a worldwide and legal entity, with more than 100 members and committed supporters.
SIGA is leading the endeavour to create a new culture of sport integrity worldwide by encouraging sports organisations to adopt a set of universal standards on key areas, such as Good Governance, Financial Integrity, Sports Betting Integrity, as well as Youth Development and Child Protection. SIGA is working with several sports organisations that are adopting the universal standards.
The partnership with Soccerex was formed in the aftermath of SIGA electing their first CEO, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, who Soccerex looks forward to welcoming at Soccerex USA in Miami, and who will speak about the role of SIGA in the latest developments in the world of sports at future Soccerex events.
Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros has over 25 years of experience at the forefront of the sports industry, both as an executive and as a lawyer, along with being one of the founders for the Association of European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL), where he served as CEO for almost 10 years, and founder and CEO of the World League Association. He has also been a member of the UEFA Professional Football Strategy Council, the FIFA Club Football Committee, the FIFA Task Force "For the Good of the Game", and other bodies. He was the CEO of ICSS INSIGHT, a position he left in the meantime to be fully concentrated in SIGA. In addition to holding the title of CEO of SIGA, he was appointed as Ambassador for Sports Ethics by the Portuguese Government, and is qualified in Law, Sports Management, Professional Sports Law, and Leading Economic Development.
Commenting on the partnership, Soccerex Marketing Director David Wright said, "Soccerex allows the key players in the soccer industry to network and discuss how to move this industry forward. SIGA are an important new voice in global sport and we wholly support their commitment to fostering a culture of improved governance and integrity within the game."
SIGA CEO, Emanuel Macedo de Medeiros, commented on the partnership, stating: "SIGA is delighted to announce this multi-year partnership with Soccerex. SIGA is committed to a world where sport is governed and played under the highest integrity standards, for the benefit of all citizens. For this vision to be achieved, we need the support of the whole industry. Soccerex is a perfect partner to generate momentum and act as a catalyst for this change too, by convening soccer’s champions of integrity and bringing their unrivalled skills and insight to the table. We are proud to have Soccerex join the SIGA community."
