(ATR) Organizers of the PyeongChang Games have signed SK Group astheir fourth domestic sponsorship partner.

Under the agreement, SK Group will become an official 2018 Olympic partner in the semiconductors and oil categories. The deal allows the company to use of the 2018 Games emblem in promotional activities, while it gets showcasing rights at Olympic sites.

SK joins telecoms operators KT Corporation, The North Face and Korean Air as designated "official partners" - the top-tier of sponsorships.

PyeongChang 2018 has struggled to recruit sponsors since the Korean city won Olympic hosting rights in 2011.

POCOG president Yang-ho Cho promised there were more sponsorship deals to come during the fifth IOC Coordination Commission visit last week. But he admitted that the organising committee had only reached just over 50 percent of its sponsorship target with two-and-a-half years remaining to the Games.

"SK group has been actively supporting sports development in Korea," Cho said in a statement. "We deeply appreciate SK Group’s decision to join the sponsorship program and we are confident that the continued support from the Korean business community will help us deliver successful Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games."

The SK Group has sponsored international sports events in Korea such as the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon and the 2015 GwangjuUniversiade.

Young-tae Kim, president of SK Group’s SUPEX Council Communication Committee, promised to "provide our full support to help make PyeongChang 2018 successful".
