(ATR) Ssangyong Information & Communications Corporation will develop and operate the official websites of the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics.
Organizers of the Games reached an agreement with the information systems company on Dec. 17 at a ceremony held at the Ssangyong headquarters in Seoul, South Korea.
Ssangyong will be a Tier 2 sponsor of the Games, offering integral support to the PyeongChang 2018 Games-technology solutions.
With the deal, Ssangyong is entitled to all rights associated with Official Partners of POCOG, including marketing rights and the use of the Olympic rings emblem.
"We have provided excellent service levels to many international sports events, and promise to use our world class knowledge and experience to make the 2018 Olympic Winter Games efficient and convenient," said Ssangyong chief executive officer Kim Seung-gi.
Iberia Named Official Airline for Spanish Olympic Committee
The Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) agreed to a deal making Spanish airline Iberia the exclusive carrier of Spanish athletes and COE members for the Rio 2016 Games.
COE president Alejandro Blanco and Iberia president Luis Gallego signed the agreement on Dec. 17 at the headquarters of the COE.
Iberia will be responsible for facilitating the travel needs of Spanish athletes and COE members in the lead up to and during the Olympics. Iberia will create special routes between Madrid and Rio for the duration of the partnership.
Iberia will also offer promotional prices to COE members for flights related to the Olympic Games.
"This agreement shows our support for the sport and all Spanish athletes who will represent us in the next Olympic Games in Rio. They embody those values of effort, desire to excel and sportsmanship both admire and try to promote Iberia," said Gallego.
"We are convinced that the Spanish delegation that will represent us at Rio de Janeiro 2016 will enjoy the professionalism of a leading institution in its field," Burzaco said of the new partnership.
AOC Signs 10-Year Deal with Telecom Company
Telecommunications company Optus agreed to one of the largestsponsorship deals in Australian Olympic Committee history on Dec. 16,becoming the official telecommunications partner of the AOC through2026.
The 10-year deal gives Optus access to the AOC partnerrecognition program, Olympic themed promotions, branded merchandise, VIPevents, Olympic tickets and licensed product opportunities according toa statement by the AOC.
"Today marks the start of anotherimportant sporting partnership for Optus in our journey to become amobile-led multimedia company," said Ben White, marketing and productmanager at Optus.
