LIMA— A revitalized focus on four key pillars will catapult Panam Sports into the future: the Athletes, the National Olympic Committees, the Pan American Games and the Panam Sports Organization.
The Panam Sports Executive Committee was introduced to the expansion of these four key pillars that originated at the General Assembly in November 2017 and the modernized vision of the organization in the Panam Sports Strategic Plan for 2018-2023.
Created with the assistance of LBB Strategies, the Strategic Plan was presented by its President, Benoit Girardin, during the Panam Sports Executive Committee in Lima, Peru on March 13th.
Led by Panam Sports President Neven Ilic and Secretary General Ivar Sisniega, the Executive Committee reviewed the Strategic Plan point by point, providing invaluable feedback and suggestions.
The lively and positive debate sparked new ideas that the leaders of sport in the Americas will bring to their NOCs to implement these groundbreaking changes.
The Strategic Plan is the culmination of several years of development and input from National Olympic Committees, athletes and the stakeholders of Panam Sports.
The NOC Workshop at the 2015 ANOC General Assembly in Washington, D.C. initiated the journey towards outlining the strategic objectives and success indicators.
"To transform the Americas through the power of sport, we needed to transform our organization and deliver on an ambitious plan to take Panam Sports to the next level.
"This strategic plan serves to capture the essence of who we are and all we aspire to be – a true leader of sport, innovation, diversity and excellence.
"In building our future, we needed to focus on servicing the needs of all our National Olympic Committees and placing the athletes, where they belong, at the heart of everything we do," said Neven Ilic, President, Panam Sports.
"I think we are seeing a shift of culture in Panam Sports, a shift of values and a much stronger and bolder vision and aspirations and I think the Strategic Plan reflects that.
"I think the organization is at a place now where it wants to get to the next level of innovation, of greatness, of excellence.
"It’s definitely a testament to the new leadership. I do all kinds of strategic plan presentations and I would say with the level of input, questions and comments today, it definitely showed that people are engaged, are committed to improving sport in the Americas and there’s a strong sense of belonging to achieving the plan," said Benoit Girardin, President, LBB Strategies and member of the Canadian Olympic Committee.
The Panam Sports Strategic Plan for 2018-2023 will be submitted to the Panam Sports General Assembly for approval by leaders of Panam Sports’ 41 NOCs in September 2018 in Lima.
