Olympian Yu-na Kim Named PyeongChang 2018 Ambassador

(ATR) The figure skater becomes the sixth ambassador for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

(ATR)During a ceremony in Seoul on Tuesday, POCOG named Olympic figure skater Yu-na Kim an ambassador for the 2018 Winter Games.

"As a Games ambassador for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games, we expect her to take the lead in promoting the Games to the world,"POCOG presidentHo-choYang said in a statement.

Among her duties as a Games ambassador, Kim will participate in POCOG's online promotion and advertising.She is the sixth ambassador appointed for the 2018 Winter Olympics.

In 2011, Kim attended the IOC Session in Durban, South Africa as a presenter for PyeongChang's 2018 bid committee.

On Tuesday, Kim told reporters that as a Games ambassador she will draw from her experience at the 2011 IOC Session. "The memories that I made with the bid committee are still fresh in my mind.

"With these memories in tow, I am excited to bring the same passion and commitment with me to this new role with the organizing committee."

South Korea's Olympic darling won a gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.At the 2014 Sochi Games, Kim narrowly missed a chance at becoming the third female figure skater to win back-to-back Olympic titles and took home silver in the ladies' singles category.
