Haggerty’s manifesto is focused on continued investment, development, opportunity and integrity

London; 10 June 2019: International Tennis Federation (ITF) President Dave Haggerty has officially launched the manifesto for his candidacy for a second four-year term. The manifesto "Working Together – Looking Ahead" is focused on building on the successes of the past four years to further promote, develop and grow tennis worldwide.

Haggerty is nominated for the position of ITF President by the United States Tennis Association (USTA). Under his leadership over the past four years, the ITF has undergone a process of much-needed reform, with the implementation of his strategic vision – ITF2024 – providing far-reaching benefits for nations, players and all stakeholders.

Working with the member nations, Haggerty has more than doubled the ITF’s revenue; transformed the Davis Cup in 2019 with plans for Fed Cup reform in 2020; reorganised the Development Department through a new strategic approach and doubled global development spending; improved communications with the nations and regions; ensured every nation has a voice that is heard; and engaged and empowered member nations, resulting in 144 nations attending the 2018 ITF AGM – a record for the ITF.

Haggerty wants to build on the successes of the past four years to carry on promoting tennis globally by working together, advocating for the sport and its values, and encouraging closer collaboration with all stakeholders. Haggerty’s manifesto outlines eight key promises targeted at working towards the ITF family’s ITF2024 priorities:

1) Continue to ensure member nations’ voices are heard

2) Successful implementation of governance reforms

3) Successful implementation of Davis Cup reforms

4) Fed Cup reforms

5) Continue to increase the ITF’s revenue generation

6) Continued growth of development funds

7) Personal commitment to funding development

8) "Working Together – Looking Ahead" leadership

The full details of each promise can be found in Haggerty’s manifesto here.

Speaking on his candidacy, Dave Haggerty said:

"We have achieved a great deal together in the past four years, but there is always room for improvement and still much more we can achieve. It is important that we build on a successful four years to ensure we realise our sport’s huge potential and deliver for nations and players, and ensure the next generation of players and fans. The manifesto outlines my vision for working together to build an even stronger and more prosperous ITF.

"Working with all stakeholders, I will continue finding new investment to ensure that the ITF and member nations can achieve the mission to develop, grow and promote tennis around the world. I will focus on development to enable the growth of tennis where it is most needed. I will work tirelessly to make sure the ITF’s flagship events – the Davis Cup and Fed Cup – are world-class occasions. I will be committed to elevating tennis in the Olympic and Paralympic Movements ahead of the build up to Tokyo 2020. I will strive to develop strong and long-lasting relationships with all partners. I will guarantee the implementation of the highest standards of integrity, governance and transparency. I will dedicate myself to further improving communication within the ITF family. And, most importantly, I will provide opportunities to ensure tennis is a sport for all."
