(ATR) GAISF Senior Vice-President Raffaele Chiulli will stand unopposed for the GAISF presidency at the organization’s general assembly next month.

No other candidates came forward before the period for nominations closed on Wednesday.

Chiulli was named GAISF leader following the death of the organization’s president Patrick Baumann at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires in October.

Around the Rings is told that the GAISF General Assembly, meeting on May 10 at SportAccord 2019 in Gold Coast, Australia, will also vote on a proposal to advance the two year rotational presidency by a year, so that Chiulli would serve from 2019 to 2021. The Italian was originally expected to replace Baumann in 2020.

In 2017, the GAISF general assembly voted to approve a rotation of the presidency for two-year terms among its respective organizations - ARISF, AIOWF, AIMS and ASOIF.

Chiulli has served as International Powerboating Union (UIM) President since 2007 and Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF) President since 2013. He has been GAISF Vice-President since 2015, GAISF Senior Vice-President since 2016 and a member of the International Olympic Committee Sport and Active Society Commission since 2014.
