Bridgestone Expands PyeongChang Education Program -- Sponsor Spotlight

(ATR) TOP Sponsor Bridgestone is expanding the PyeongChang 2018 Education Program.

The education program has been expanded to the Shin Mang Won Orphanage, through support of the tire company. PyeongChang 2018 says it has reached 2 million Korean students so far with the education program, which teaches the value of Olympism.

Earlier this month a "PyeongChang Day" was held at the orphanage, where students participated in Olympic sports and were visited by speedskater Gi Hyun Ko.

"Education is a core element of the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 and we are delighted to be working with Bridgestone to take our program out to the community and to the Shin Mang Won Orphanage." Hee Beom Lee, PyeongChang 2018 President, said in a statement. "The Education program has received very positive feedback from students and teachers and we want to ensure that the Games has a lasting legacy for the next generation in Korea - teaching them the importance of the Olympic values and also allowing them to discover more about Winter Sports."

Early next year Bridgestone will prepare more events for the orphanage, and will take the children to witness the 2018 Olympic Torch Relay in Seoul. The program will culminate with Bridgestone taking children from the orphanage to the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang.

Canada Inks Footwear Supplier

Canadian athletes will wear Under Armour shoes at the PyeongChang 2018 Opening Ceremony, the first National Olympic Committee to do so.

The Canadian Olympic Committee signed an agreement with Under Armour through the 2024 Olympics. Boots commissioned for PyeongChang will be available for Canadians to buy at retailer Sport Chek, or online.

For PyeongChang, Under Armour will outfit athletes with a boot for the Opening Ceremony, and offer warm up and running shoes.

"This new Under Armour partnership is ultimately about providing the most innovative and high performance footwear for our athletes," Derek Kent, COC chief marketing officer said in a statement. "The COC is very proud to be Under Armour’s first ever National Olympic Committee partner and we look forward to partnering with their brand at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games and beyond."
