Bahrain’s national swimming team was given a warm welcome on return from Doha after competing at the 25th GCC Water Games held recently.

The nationals took 35 medals in total, including seven gold, 14 silver and 14 bronze at this week-long event, organised by Qatar Swimming Association (QSA) at the Hamad Aquatic Complex.

The 2015 edition of the GCC Water Games brought together swimmers from all GCC countries including hosts Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, accompanied by Bahrain Swimming Association president Shaikh Mohammed bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and other top sports personnel, congratulated the team on this achievement.

He also conveyed the greetings and congratulations of His Majesty King Hamad advisor for charity works and youth affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

Askar commended the efforts and the overall performance of the Bahraini swimmers throughout this challenging event, in which some of the Gulf region’s best were in the fray.

On their part, both Shaikh Mohammed and BSA vice-president Faisal Swar were also pleased for the remarkable results of the team and noted the high spirit of the Bahraini swimmers during the competition.
