15 June 2018; Lausanne: ANOC today selected three students from Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Brazil and Qatar to receive scholarships to study the Master of Sport Administration (MSA) course at the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU).
ANOC has partnered with RIOU for six years as part of its commitment to delivering the best possible service to its NOCs, with the MSA providing opportunities for its NOCs to learn from international best practice.
Recipients of the scholarship – provided courtesy of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation – will receive world-class theoretical education combined with hands-on sports administration experience, which they can then disseminate through their NOCs. The three students selected are:
· Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Muftah from Qatar
· Mr. O Kwang Hyok from Democratic People’s Republic of Korea
· Ms. Camila Gobo de Freitas from Brazil
ANOC President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah said:
"We are very pleased to be able to offer these scholarships to Mr Al-Muftah, Mr Hyok and Ms Gobo de Freitas. Every year we receive a lot of very talented and capable candidates from NOCs all over the world which makes the decision on who to select particularly difficult. We have no doubt the three candidates we have chosen will excel and with their enhanced knowledge and expertise will be able to support the development of the Olympic Movement in their countries. The NOCs of DPRK, Brazil and Qatar vary in size and ambition, but they, like all NOCs, have room for growth and these scholarships are an excellent way for ANOC to be able to support them."
ANOC had invited its NOCs to nominate any candidate with higher education qualifications who would like to improve their knowledge and management skills to apply for the scholarships before selecting the final three recipients.
