As tensions between Russia and Ukraine escalate, UEFA is looking into the possibility of moving the Champions League final out of Saint Petersburg “amid concerns over the possibility of military conflict between Russia and Ukraine,” according to a report from ESPN.
The final is scheduled for May 28 in Krestovsky Stadium but could be moved to London’s Wembley Stadium or some other site.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said, “I think it inconceivable that major international football tournaments can take place in Russia after the invasion of a sovereign country.”
No decision from UEFA has been made regarding the final, but per ESPN they are “closely monitoring the political situation.”
