(ATR) The fifth edition of the Asian Beach Games says goodbye to Da Nang, Vietnam.
The closing ceremony brought the 10-day multi-sport event to an end on Oct. 3 with highlights of the best moments from the games blended with music.
"Victory is for everyone who took part in the Games, the victory of passion, determination, solidarity, and amity between Asians in a peaceful world always looking towards a brighter future," Vietnam minister of sport, culture and tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien told athletes during the ceremony.
"Regardless of their ages and religions, athletes joined the Games not only to seek for the glory of their nations and territories but also for sharing their wonderful cultures, joys and the noble friendship."
The ceremony was attended by Olympic Council of Asia vice president Timothy Fok who declared the games a success and officially closed the ceremony. His speech was followed by the lowering of the OCA flag and the extinguishing of the cauldron.
Fok was then handed the OCA flag as opposed to the next host of the event due to a change in the Asian Beach Games format which moves the games to a four-year cycle. The next Asian Beach Games will take place in 2020 but a host city is yet to be determined.
